September 3rd was a peaceful, sunny, Sunday afternoon when the family of Sammie Lee Gilbert, 86 of Lewis, gathered around for the comfort of the man. Shortly after the clock struck 12:30, his children, daughter, Penny and Rob Baker, son’s, Jeff Gilbert, Pat and Jan Gilbert, Jed and Terri Gilbert along with wife, Cheri Gilbert and several of the grandchildren, stood by Sam’s bedside as he drew his last breath in the comfort of his own home.
