Betty Jo Monroe, 74, of Sullivan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday February 4, 2018 at Sullivan County Community Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Sullivan County on August 14, 1943 to John Comstock and Lora Louise (Robertson) Comstock. Betty was a 1961 graduate of Sullivan High School, enjoyed the outdoors, working with plants in her yard, her family, and most importantly her faith in God. She was a member of the Sullivan Wesleyan Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William “Bill” Monroe, a sister Jeanie Woodward and a step daughter Winona Howard.
Survivors include her sons Carl (Rachel) Foster, Gary (Staci) Foster, daughters, Melissa Foster and her companion Daniel Potts, Melanie Foster, Andrea (Clarence) Abbott, step daughters, Valerie (Tony) Trotter, Elizabeth (Larry) Comer, Vivian Marnin, brothers, Mike Orr, Mark Orr, Richard Orr, Brian Orr, Tim Orr,, sisters Toni Foster, Mary Smith, Ruth Wence, Lori Blythe, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other family.
Services will be at 1:00p.m on Wednesday February 7, 2018 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Eddie Hayes officiating. Visitation for Betty will be on Wednesday from 11:00a.m until the time of services. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you take a moment to hug a child, grandchild, parent, friend or walk in the woods for a moment, an hour or a day. Time waits for no one.
